8/28 - PBDR released version 5.1 of PBDelta. The new version has a number of enhancements and fixes a number of minor bugs.

iAnywhere has announced at the Borland Developers Conference that it is strengthening its database management portfolio with the release of Advantage Database Server 8.0. Advantage Database Server is a full-featured, high performance client/server data management system targeted towards Borland Delphi and C++ Builder developers.

Sybase has announced its continued and expanded commitment and support for the Microsoft .NET environment.

Aart Onkenhout introduced Coolbar, wrappers around the Microsoft rebar and toolbar control to make it possible to have Office XP- and Office 2003-style toolbars in PowerBuilder applications. Although some of the features will be available in the newest PowerBuilder version (10.5), these wrappers make it possible to give an Office look to applications written in PB7 to PB 10.2 (and 10.5 too).

Sybase has reported its financial results for the 2005 third quarter ended September 30, 2005. 'We beat our expectations on the bottom line, generated solid cash flow from operations, and increased mobile and wireless revenues by 12% year-over-year,' said John Chen, chairman, CEO and president.
