Appeon Migrates Healthcare Labor Resource Management Software to the Web
Improving the effectiveness and efficiency of staffing operations

Digg This!

Appeon Corporation and RES-Q Healthcare Systems has announced the successful migration of key modules from RES-Q Healthcare Systems Labor Resource Management System, built with Sybase PowerBuilder, to the Web and J2EE. This move to the Web comes in response to RES-Q Healthcare Systems’ relentless pursuit of further improving the effectiveness and efficiency of staffing operations for hospitals and healthcare providers.

The new Web-based employee scheduling and personnel management system will boost the speed and responsiveness of staff scheduling activities for the hundreds of hospitals that currently depend on RES-Q Healthcare Systems’ solutions. Tens of thousands of hospital staff will now be able to perform their own scheduling from home or any other location with Web access.

RES-Q Healthcare Systems’ Labor Resource Management System is a modular PC-based client/server software built with Sybase PowerBuilder. Utilizing extremely sophisticated and complex code, the powerful application provides scheduling, personnel management, workload staffing, and department labor budgeting capabilities to run hospitals of virtually any size. Key application windows comprising the scheduling and personnel management modules, which were the focus of the project, contained between 20 to 37 DataWindows, 20 to 30 controls, and 5,000 to 6,000 lines of PowerScript.

Appeon for PowerBuilder, the revolutionary Web development and deployment platform, automatically converted 90% of the application objects and code to the Web deployed to a J2EE-based architecture. The project was completed in just 60 days. Rewriting these modules from scratch with traditional J2EE Web development tools would have required as much as 18-engineering months or 18 times the effort.
