HELSINKI, FINLAND -- (Marketwire) -- 11/13/08 -- Comptel Corporation (HEX: CTL1V), the leading vendor of dynamic Operations Support Software (OSS), announced today that Sybase 365, a subsidiary of Sybase Inc., the global leader in mobile messaging services, has selected the Comptel AXIOSS Suite(TM) for network inventory and order management of a diverse range of mobile messaging enablement services.
Sybase 365 manages inter-carrier messaging services for more than 3 billion of the estimated 3.7 billion mobile subscribers worldwide, and for more than 700 mobile operators worldwide. Sybase 365's systems process more than 100 billion messages annually. With responsibility for over 80 percent of all inter-carrier SMS, MMS and WAP traffic worldwide, Sybase 365 is the world's leading enabler of messaging and mobile-specific content delivery.
"The proliferation of smartphones, iPhones and other mobile devices has produced an astounding increase in the volume of mobile messaging traffic," said Larry Reback, vice president, Technology Services, Sybase 365. "To keep the world's messaging data flowing smoothly and to accommodate this rise, we focused on creating the most accurate picture of all the traffic being processed across our network, while adding more automation to our day-to-day network operations to ensure maximum reliability. Comptel not only proved to be the best choice for enabling this level of automation, but its dynamic solutions will help us manage new types of content and messaging services in the future."
Comptel AXIOSS Suite is a comprehensive service fulfillment platform for broadband and IP-based service providers, enabling services to be designed quickly, assembled for customers promptly and delivered cost-efficiently, improving the customer experience, reducing customer support costs, and providing close control and visibility of the service fulfillment environment. AXIOSS comprises modules for order management, service inventory and service activation, which can be delivered as a fully integrated suite or tailored to fit providers' existing architecture.
The implementation of the Comptel AXIOSS Suite at Sybase 365 will be performed in two phases. The first phase will focus on developing an inventory management system and creating a full view and dynamic control of Sybase 365's IP and VPN networks. The second phase will carry out the installation and configuration of the customer and engineering order management systems to maintain firewalls, servers and other customer-oriented applications, such as mobile banking.
"Sybase 365's position within the mobile information sector is unique and requires a truly capable, flexible and reliable solution. AXIOSS provides Sybase 365 with the close control and visibility required over the entire service fulfillment environment to ensure the effective processing of such a substantial volume of the most commonly used services worldwide," said Brad Niven, vice president, North America, Comptel Corporation.
This deal was closed in Q1 2008, prior to the acquisition of Axiom Systems by Comptel.
Comptel Corporation will be exhibiting and speaking at TM Forum's Management World Conference, held from November 16-20, 2008 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida. Visit Comptel in the exhibition hall at booth #213.
