Sybase has announced the planned availability of its Adaptive Server Enterprise Cluster Edition for AIX and HP-UX 11i. This additional UNIX support is another expansion to the ecosystem of supported products and platforms for ASE Cluster Edition, including third party monitoring tools and replication technology.
Sybase accelerated ASE Cluster Edition support for HP-UX 11i and AIX due to demand from customers wanting to leverage ASE Cluster Edition to consolidate database servers, meet service level agreements and lower costs through ASE's approach of combining patent-pending Virtualized Management Resource (VRM) technology in a shared-disk cluster architecture. Support for these new platforms demonstrates that Sybase continues to execute on its Unwired Enterprise strategy by delivering on the promise of open, reliable systems that meet our customer's ever-growing data management requirements.
"Customers want to reduce risk to their business through the safeguarding of critical data. The combination of HP-IX 11i V3 and Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise achieves this while increasing the availability and resource utilization of their technology environment," said Jennifer Millier, Vice President Marketing for Business Critical Server group, HP. "The combination of the advanced security features in the latest version of HP-UX 11i ver 3 with the high performance and reliability of the new ASE Cluster Edition significantly improves the data protection for high transaction-oriented applications."
