BEAVERTON, Ore., April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- CompView Medical, a wholly owned subsidiary of CompView Inc. that provides integrated audio-visual systems for medical environments, today announced the launch of NuBoom(TM), the next generation of integrated Operating Room (OR) equipment management solution. NuBoom provides significant cost and ergonomic benefits over traditional ceiling mounted equipment boom solutions. The announcement was made at the 52nd AORN Congress, held in New Orleans, LA.
NuBoom, incorporating a new, patent pending, pedestal and boom design, provides a precise, ergonomic, 360-degree operating field positioning capability for displays, medical equipment and services. Additionally, the system incorporates an integrated OR control system designed to improve OR efficiency by providing centralized control.
"This revolutionary operating room solution will increase the opportunity for hospitals to improve operating room efficiency, surgical outcomes and staff satisfaction, at a much lower cost than traditional solutions," said Paul White, founder and president of CompView Medical.
The integrated design concept of NuBoom additionally will change the paradigm of long, costly, OR retrofits. NuBoom can be retrofitted into an existing OR in less than one week, as opposed to months for traditional alternatives, and costs significantly less than other solutions available today.
The use of endoscopic surgery has increased exponentially during the past 10 years. According to Millennium Research Group's 2003 report titled, "US Markets for Video and Hi-Tech Hardware Devices," the U.S. market for medical booms was more than $65M in 2003 and is estimated to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 25 percent until 2008. In keeping pace with the industry, CompView Medical has developed NuBoom to provide hospitals with more flexibility for placement of medical equipment and monitors, and improved viewing angles. Combined with CompView Medical's DOCS(TM) (Digital Operating Control System), NuBoom provides hospitals a compelling, completely integrated OR solution that addresses all areas of concern for surgeons, peri-operative nurses, hospital administrators and patients.
"CompView Medical's NuBoom system will improve the OR environment, while providing significant costs savings," said Melody Montgomery, director of Perioperative Services at Oregon Health and Science University, where the premier installation of NuBoom is currently underway. "By being able to upgrade or overhaul our current facility to a state-of-the-art environment in just five days, we will be able to prevent the loss of revenue from having to shut down a room for an extended period of time, which could potentially save us hundreds of thousands of dollars in certain instances."
CompView Medical will be showcasing their technology, including NuBoom and DOCS, throughout the week at booth #2951 at the AORN Congress. For more information about CompView Medical, please visit the company's Website at http://www.compviewmedical.com/ .
