AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Asure Software , a leading provider of workforce management software, today announced the expansion of its flagship room scheduling product, NetSimplicity's Meeting Room Manager (MRM), to include the ability to integrate with SunGard Higher Education Banner(R), the world's most widely used collegiate course scheduling solution.
This new import capability, available with Meeting Room Manager 7.6, provides customers the ability to import and view course scheduling information from Banner. Faculty and staff can then use MRM to see classroom availability and schedule the same rooms for other events, with assurance that those schedules do not conflict with courses scheduled in Banner.
NetSimplicity's MRM scheduling software is used in more than 250 institutions of higher education, including Brigham Young University, Florida A&M University, Florida State University, Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, Kent State University, and many more.
"We are delighted to provide our joint customers a solution to see Banner course scheduling as they reserve classrooms in MRM. This has been one of the most frequently-requested features from our higher education customers as it allows them to maximize the use of their available space," said Nancy Harris, Chief Operating Officer of Asure Software.
This capability was originally developed by Richie Trenthem, IT Director with Rhodes College, who saw a need to merge the information captured in Banner into MRM. "Meeting Room Manager is the centralized, self-service option for our community to reserve spaces and request services as they plan meetings and events," Trenthem said. "We created the MRM - Banner Import Utility to ensure that our MRM calendar always reflects the academic course schedule. By integrating classes and other events in a single calendar, it's much easier to share our prime facilities and avoid scheduling conflicts. In short, our challenge was sharing space, and keeping off each other's toes, while still offering a single calendar for our users," Trenthem said.
NetSimplicity has implemented the Banner Import Utility as a standard offering within Meeting Room Manager so that other Banner users could enjoy this capability. By integrating their curricular and extracurricular scheduling systems, institutions of higher education unlock the potential to optimally use their facilities. This benefits them by:
-- Enabling faculty and staff to view room schedules and find available space for extracurricular events via MRM's easy-to-use web interface -- Enriching their campus intranet portals and provide users a simple, unified way to find scheduled events and courses campus-wide -- Implementing a managed room booking process, controlling faculty/staff access to book or request rooms, and automating the request, notification and approval processes -- Integrating and automating requests for other room services including A/V, room setup, catering, and other equipment and services -- Tracking room and resource bookings to measure and optimize facility utilization
Meeting Room Manager provides a complete scheduling solution empowering users throughout educational institutions to schedule rooms and resources from any standard web browser, Outlook(R) Client, and LCD Panel -- reducing administrative costs and increasing workforce productivity associated with the planning of meetings.
