MIAMI BEACH, Fla., March 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Sabrina Cohen Foundation for Stem Cell Research is hosting its first fundraising event at Lucky Strike Lanes on March 1, 2007. It will be a night of eating, drinking, bowling, playing pool and the much-anticipated launch of the SCF website, http:/www.sabrinacohenfoundation.org. Founder Sabrina Cohen, wheelchair-bound since the age of 14, will be there to promote the website's purpose and community feel, complete with blogs, forums, videos and personal stories.
SCF is a nonprofit dedicated to bridging the gap between stem cell research and the infinite solutions it can provide for curing disease. It's an organization that envisions a world where the devastating impact of illness and disease is significantly reduced with sound, ethical stem cell solutions, allowing individuals and families to live life to the fullest.
Bowling teams across eight lanes will be decked out in Sabrina Cohen's Fashion-with-a-Passion line of t-shirts called Free the Stem Cells. The progressive tees include "Broken hearts suck!" for Heart Disease, "I'm sick of pricks" for Diabetes, "My boobs are killer" for Breast cancer and for the gutsy ones, "Wanna check out my ass?" for Paralysis which is Sabrina's favorite. Of course, to see her derriere, you'll have to get her out of her chair.
Teams will compete through the night for donated prizes from South Beach Divers, Cubi-K Scooters, the Florida Panthers and Biotonic featuring Power Plate. The two best teams (six players each) and four best bowlers will be rewarded. Art by Romero Britto and Kaleidoscope Conspiracy will be auctioned off. Alcohol sponsors include Peroni Nastro Azzurro and Iceberg Vodka. Guests can purchase a $50.00 bowling package that includes one drink of choice, Peroni beer, two bowling games and hors d'oeuvres. Or a $25.00 non-bowling package. Free pool for everyone.
