WALLDORF, Germany, Feb. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced that its supervisory board has voted to extend the tenure of Dr. Vishal Sikka as Executive Board member of SAP AG through December 31, 2017. Sikka agreed to the extension of his tenure.

Sikka was named a member of the SAP Executive Board in 2010 and heads the Technology & Innovation area. His responsibilities include the SAP technology platform and products, including database, application platform and middleware, collaboration, business analytics and search. He is also responsible for the development of new products and new business areas, including the SAP research, incubation and new products organizations. In addition, Sikka is the chief technology officer (CTO) of SAP, a role he has held since 2007. He is the author of "Timeless Software," which underpins the SAP architecture and innovation strategy.
Sikka holds a doctorate from Stanford University in computer science and his background includes work in artificial intelligence, automated reasoning, programming languages and models, and data management and search systems.
