To meet today's aggressive business goals and stay current with rapidly changing technological demands, companies must find new methods for training their employees. Issues related to travel restrictions, increased costs, and employee productivity have made this mission-critical to the ongoing success of any enterprise. The ability to reach a dispersed workforce and share knowledge in a timely and efficient manner requires a readily accessible, interactive, real-time training alternative to the traditional classroom environment.
SyberLearning from Sybase Education provides an online solution for meeting these needs. Enabling corporations to train diverse groups of employees across a broad spectrum of technologies, SyberLearning provides all the benefits of expert training while minimizing time away from the job and maximizing training dollars.
Presented in an online interactive format, SyberLearning delivers both lecture-only and full lecture/lab online courses using a Web conferencing solution. Courses feature real-time conference-call interaction with Sybase Certified instructors, downloadable courseware, and hands-on labs. This allows for a complete classroom experience. SyberLearning covers Sybase and other leading technologies such as Java and XML.
Each SyberLearning course includes a lecture, with both online and conference-call Q & A capabilities. Three days before the first day of class students can download course materials and labs. For courses encompassing labs, additional instructor support is available outside of lecture times. Course duration is dependent on subject matter and can run anywhere from 1-7 days, with a maximum of 3 hours per day.
SyberLearning was launched in October of 2001 and has expanded to include more than 18 regularly scheduled sessions. Courses offered span a range of experience levels and cover a variety of technology solutions.
SyberLearning also offers students access to Sybase MySmartForce, a personalized continuous-learning community with access to 24/7 online mentoring, expert-led and peer-to-peer chats, mentored exercises, seminars, simulations, and discussion boards on SmartForce courses. By creating a MySmartForce profile, students can receive news, events, and articles that are relevant to their selected interests. A substantial library provides a searchable venue for specific topics of interest or research articles on IT and business-related issues. Specialized events provide a forum for further discussion and exploration.

Challenging times require aggressive and innovative solutions to maintain market share and exploit potential opportunities. Ensuring that employees continue to maintain and develop skill sets in current and future technologies is a critical element to achieving corporate and financial success.
SyberLearning provides a new way to realize cost-effective, just-in-time expert training on Sybase and other technology solutions while maintaining on-the-job performance and consistency. In an economic environment where both time and money are precious commodities, SyberLearning gives corporations the means to increase employee performance and productivity, improve project success, and attain corporate goals.
