7/4 - SQLBatch updated PblDump, a free command-line utility for listing and exporting PowerBuilder libraries and FAR plugin for browsing PBLs. In addition, they will be releasing a new version of PowerBatch 3 with PB10 support and a new tool, PblOptimizer.

CoolMenu 2.0
8/2 - A new build of CoolMenu was released to address a couple of bugs. CoolMenu is a utility for adding bitmaps to the beginning of menu items in menus.

9/1 - PBSearch was updated to support PowerBuilder 10 and PocketBuilder. PBSearch is a tool for searching through PB code and stored procedures. You can also find objects, do Global Search and Replace, generate PBR files, and find unused objects.

Innovator Awards

8/16 - iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of Sybase, presented its fourth annual Innovator Awards to DB Microware and MediNotes Corporation. The 2004 Innovator Awards recognize iAnywhere Solutions Alliance Program members who have demonstrated innovative use of iAnywhere technology as the foundation for cutting-edge applications that enable their customers to have anywhere, anytime access to enterprise information.

Editor's Choice Award
8/24 - iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of Sybase, announced that XcelleNet Afaria 5.1 received Network Computing's Editor's Choice Award. Nine vendors were invited to submit their mobile device management software for testing at Network Computing's Real World Labs in Syracuse, New York. The review process focused on a broad range of management features, including inventory, configuration and security, and on an equally broad range of handheld platforms.

Market Leader
8/17 - In a recent report IDC recognized iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of Sybase, as the leader in mobile device management enterprise software with higher revenues and market share than nearly 20 competitors. The results in this year's report reflect the acquisition of XcelleNet by Sybase in May 2004, and mark the third consecutive year that the XcelleNet Afaria product has led the MDM Enterprise software market.

8/2 - iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of Sybase, unveiled QAnywhere, a robust application-to-application messaging technology within SQL Anywhere Studio. QAnywhere facilitates the development of mobile applications that easily integrate with back-end enterprise application servers and messaging systems that support Sun's Java Message Service (JMS).


8/17 - Ascential Software Corporation announced that it has entered into a worldwide reseller agreement with Sybase. Under terms of the agreement, Sybase will resell Ascential DataStage, Ascential RTI, and Ascential Packaged Application Connection Kits (PACKs) for multiple enterprise applications, databases, and operating systems. More than 40,000 corporate customers in 60 countries, including 95 of the Fortune 100, use Sybase technology.

RFID Early Adopter Program
8/16 - Sybase launched an RFID Early Adopter Program, designed to jump start development of radio frequency identification (RFID) enterprise solutions. The company plans to work closely with a select group of customers and partners (SIs, VARs, OEMs), leveraging new Sybase RFID middleware currently in development. The middleware includes new technologies as well as existing Sybase Unwired Enterprise portfolio products that have been extended to address RFID environments.

8/16 - Sybase and AeroScout, a Wi-Fi standards-based enterprise visibility solutions provider, announced the availability of a mobile real-time RFID tracking solution. The combined solution allows organizations to quickly locate and determine the availability of critical resources using Wi-Fi wireless network-based infrastructure, thereby improving asset utilization and enhancing service quality. The Sybase mobile real-time RFID solution, which supports relational database management systems, aggregates location data from AeroScout's active RFID solution, as well as other passive RFID sources, and delivers it to mobile devices.


9/1 - Applix, a global provider of Business Intelligence (BI) and Business Performance Management (BPM) solutions, announced a strategic alliance with Sybase to help Sybase customers fully leverage their investments in Sybase technology, delivering real-time answers to complex business questions for an enterprise-wide business intelligence solution. As part of the strategic alliance, Applix will offer its TM1 Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) and planning platform to operate with Sybase's Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) and Sybase IQ.

8/16 - Sybase and Lumigent Technologies, a developer of enterprise data auditing solutions, said the two companies will partner to offer Entegra for Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) databases. Sybase and Lumigent have entered into an agreement to jointly develop and market Entegra for Sybase. Entegra helps organizations maintain the integrity of their data, reduce the risk of inappropriate changes and access to data, and meet compliance regulations.

Beta Release
8/16 - Sybase announced the beta release of Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise 15.0, the company's enterprise-class relational database management system (RDBMS). Developers are invited to join the ASE 15.0 beta program to get ahead of the curve by evaluating and testing the new version's expanded data management capabilities, receive in-depth implementation advice and ensure that their valuable feedback is incorporated into the final feature set.
