Second Quarter Earnings
7/23 - Sybase announced second quarter 2003 total revenues of $192.0
million, including license fees of $63.9 million, exceeding First
Call consensus revenue estimates of $186.5 million.
iANYWHERE
Mobile Middleware Market Share
7/22 - In a recent report, IDC recognized iAnywhere Solutions, a
subsidiary of Sybase, as the leader in mobile middleware technology
with higher revenues and market share than nearly 20 competitors. The
results in this year's report reflect the acquisition of AvantGo by
Sybase in February 2003 and firmly position iAnywhere Solutions in
the mobile middleware market for the second consecutive year.
Learn2Hand
7/21 - iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of Sybase, announced that
French2Hand, a new AvantGo channel, offers mobile device users a
crash course in the French language. The channel brings together the
power of learning and mobile technology to provide AvantGo users with
quick and easy French lessons for a variety of situations, anytime,
anywhere. Within the channel, users work through a scenario, designed
as a 20-minute, bite-sized course that teaches and tests their French
knowledge. Users can then purchase additional courses or "nuggets" to
cover other popular scenarios such as eating out, business travel, or
looking for real estate property.
LPGA
7/15 - Sybase showcased its support of the LPGA and wireless
computing this week with its third title sponsorship of New York's
premier Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) event - the
Sybase Big Apple Classic. Sybase subsidiary iAnywhere Solutions
teamed with Intel Corporation to provide wireless (Wi-Fi) Internet
access at the tournament and also offered players, attendees, and
fans worldwide up-to-the-second scoring via "Sybase Big Apple Classic
To Go," a dedicated My AvantGo channel available on mobile devices
such as PDAs and smartphones.
Hot Spot Locator
7/15 - iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of Sybase, announced the
creation of a convenient Hot Spot Locator channel for personal
digital assistants (PDAs) and smartphones in My AvantGo. In addition
to being able to access more than 2,500 channels of content -
including news, weather, sports, travel, and entertainment - My
AvantGo users can now conveniently locate the nearest "hot spot" for
Wi-Fi connectivity simply by entering a local zip code or city. My
AvantGo users can add the free Hot Spot Locator channel to their
mobile device by visiting www.myavantgo.com.
Golf Magazine
7/15 - iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of Sybase, announced that
Golf Magazine has extended GolfOnline to PDAs and smartphones by
joining the My AvantGo service. The service delivers golf tips, the
latest equipment information, news, and more to golfers of all ages,
both on and off the course.
LINUX
Linux Popularity Growing
7/14 - Sybase announced that growing numbers of customers and
partners in transaction-heavy industries are choosing Sybase to help
them reap the benefits and minimize the risks of Linux, without
sacrificing high performance. Sybase allows these customers to
reliably fulfill the promise of Linux with easy migration from other
operating systems, rapid deployment of new solutions, and cost
savings in both hardware and software due to Sybase's inherent
performance leadership.
Red Hat
7/14 - Sybase and Red Hat announced that Sybase has become a Red Hat
Premier ISV Partner, deepening their existing relationship. As the
first stage of this agreement, Sybase has certified its
enterprise-class data management systems on Red Hat Enterprise Linux,
providing enterprise customers with reliable, scalable, and secure
data management solutions that build on the promise of Linux by
further reducing operating costs.
Linux Competency Center
7/14 - Sybase deepened its support for Linux with the opening of a
new Competency Center in New York, a global Linux professional
services practice and commitment for all relevant Sybase products to
support Linux by 2004. In addition, the company confirmed its
leadership in performance for enterprise-class relational database
management systems on Linux, based on testing of Sybase Adaptive
Server Enterprise (ASE).
FINANCIAL FUSION
Digital China Software
7/21 - Financial Fusion, a subsidiary of Sybase, and Digital China
Software Limited have announced an alliance that will combine the
complete line of Financial Fusion's software for banking, payments,
and capital markets with the systems integration expertise of Digital
China Software Limited.
BofA Military Bank
7/15 - Financial Fusion, a subsidiary of Sybase, has announced that
Bank of America Military Bank has licensed Financial Fusion Consumer
Banking Solution. Consumer Banking Solution is a comprehensive
Web-based account and payment management system that offers a fully
integrated, multichannel delivery solution for retail banking.

England's Sybase Tools User Network (STUN) will be holding their
annual one-day user conference on November 12, 2003.
