Living Proof Secures Additional $9 Million in Funding From Polaris Venture Partners

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Living Proof, a technology-based beauty company, headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, announced today it has secured $9 million of financing to fuel growth, technology pipeline, and international expansion.

Living Proof was founded by Polaris Venture Partners, a venture capital firm with an extraordinary 25-year track record, and Dr. Robert Langer, one of the world's top biomedical scientists. The company's unique approach to the beauty category is to launch breakthrough hair and skin products with newly-invented materials that work dramatically better than anything else in the market today. Its first product introduction, No Frizz -- a line of silicone-free, frizz-eliminating hair products -- officially launched in February 2009 at Sephora, QVC and livingproof.com. No Frizz is one of the biggest launches to enter the market this year at Sephora.

"We're extraordinarily excited by the success we've had out of the gate," says Jon Flint, co-founder and chairman of Living Proof and co-founder of Polaris Venture Partners. "Living Proof's brand message that it will only market truly innovative technologies which deliver beautiful, healthy results is clearly resonating with consumers and driving our tremendous growth."

"This financing will give us the capital to create and market category-busting new products like we've have with No Frizz," says Rob Robillard, CEO of Living Proof. "It will allow us to replicate this early success in markets outside the United States."

Living Proof counts among its founders and advisors some of the top names in science, beauty and business, including Jon Flint and Dr. Amir Nashat of Polaris Venture Partners; Dr. Robert Langer and Dr. Dan Anderson of M.I.T.; Rob Robillard, Living Proof CEO and former worldwide general manager of Kiehl's Since 1851; Ward Stegerhoek, a top editorial stylist; Mitch DeRosa, owner of Mitchell John Salon; and Dr. Rox Anderson, head of Photo Medicine at Mass General Hospital and inventor of breakthrough laser therapies.
